For those of you who must travel first class, with fine wine, servants, caviar and champagne ... NOT! Of course you will eat and drink well, and yes, champagne is included, but please understand, the fun is in the doing, not having it done for you!! If you can't stand to be without your high heels or TV remote, then perhaps you should stay on land!

Please note: Another more common option instead of one of these packages is to charter the boat and our services for one fee, and then pay the exact cost of all the on board food and drink and let Captain Mark do all of the shopping at no additional cost. This assures that the customer does not pay a premium over the actual cost of the food and drink. We shop for and store all the goods on board prior to your arrival, then you reimburse us when you are on board.

A recent example of a ten day sail in the British Virgin Islands in May, 2009 on a 46' catamaran with 7 guests resulted in a total charter fee of $8,600 for the boat, boat insurance, local fees, our hotel stay the night before, and Captain Mark services plus what turned out to be $1,900 for ten days of food and drink (including alcohol but not including the meals ashore). The cost per person therefore was only $1,500 for ten days, (not for just seven days as in the package examples below.)

This one-week package will include the following on board food plan and extra features. Neither plan includes airfares, taxis or other transportation costs and fees.

Notes:
We will try to accommodate individual tastes, preferences and dietary concerns. Please let me know of any allergies, medical conditions, etc. well before departure. All meals on board will include the captain/cook, you may invite and pay for us to join you for on shore meals but are not required. If your party requires less alcohol, or no alcohol, or prefers finer wines or liquor, modifications can be made.

COST EXAMPLE:
For the British Virgin Island Trip on a Bahia 46 catamaran in late April, for example, the cost for eight guests would be about $10,600 total, or $1325 per person. (Plus your on shore meals). If you want to hire a cook, add $1,000 to the total cost.

If you took the same trip but for six guests on a Sun Odyssey 42.2, the total cost is about $7,800 or $1,300 per person.

Each trip is different depending on location, time of year, cost of the yacht, etc. so ask me to plan a trip and I will give you the cost for that particular itinerary.

COST COMPARISON:
Stay in one of the resort hotels we will be anchoring nearby for one week at $500-1,000 per night. This will cost you anywhere from $2,000-$4,000 per person and will not include food, drinks, extras, and most importantly, not a single day on a sailing yacht.

For a fully crewed charter yacht with a similar menu and size of boat for eight people, you can expect to pay between $1500-$2500 per person. While the food presentation and quality may be a factor here, you won't starve on my trips, nor will you be disappointed by what we serve and the way we serve it. Restaurants on shore will either be of high quality or will be of high local flavor!

To charter the same boat from the same company and hire a skipper (who only drives, navigates and anchors the boat; he does NOT pre provision per your particular tastes and needs, give sailing lessons, provide custom T shirts and hats and other goodies, help coordinate your travel plans, take you snorkeling, etc.) and pay...... Skippers typically cost $165 per day, Cooks at $135 per day, plus tip of 15% Skipper, 10% for Cook.

So, bring OBT along and enjoy all of the extras (including Becky's help for FREE!) without having to pay unreasonable and unnecessary premiums.

Dick in the Dirt party, don't fall down!!

For the British Virgin Island Trip on a Bahia 46 Catamaran in late April, for example, the cost for eight guests is $9,600 total, or $1,200 per person (plus your onshore meals). If you want to hire a cook, add $1,000 to the total cost. You not only save $1,000 on the Typical total package but you save the cost of dining out for two lunches and three dinners.

If you took the same trip but for six guests on a Sun Odyssey 42.2, the total cost is about $7,200 or $1,200 per person.

COST COMPARISON:
Resort Hotel? Don't even ask, see "Typical Package" Cost Comparisons.

See "Typical Package" for crewed charter boat.

See "Typical Package" for bareboat with hired skipper. The change in food quality and price is about the same, so the cost comparison is about the same, except you get less extras on this trip than with the Typical Package.
